The isolated rock Sigiriya was the royal citadel for 18 years in the 5th century. Still its great glory is undisputed and it offers a remarkable memory for the visitors.
The rock palace built by king Kasyapa is a masterpiece of construction, artistry & irrigation. Sigiriya is world famous for its frescoes. You could get to the frescoes pocket through a spiral staircase, here you'll find the phenomenal frescoes of the Sigiriya maidens. Earlier there have been 500 'damsels' but today only 18 of them exsists.
